Just wondered what a reasonable price is for an 80cm dish install and calibration. I've been quoted €85. Is that steep?

    Thanks!

Ive only ever done the installations myself and im glad I did. I now know the basics of installation. Handy for future issues and installations.

If you have the time and the want to learn, you should have a go at it yourself.:D:D:D

No, it's potentially cheap. Especially if it includes the dish & bracket.

Insurance, Travel, tools, ladders, spectrum analyser.

It depends on how difficult an install it is.

Yes. I'm supplying all the kit needed. Dish, card, CAM, cables. I just need someone to fit it all up for me. I haven't a clue! :D

I'd like to learn but just don't have the time, and that's not out of laziness, I really don't! :o

What is it got to be aligned to, is it a multi-sat system??? If so they take a bit of time to setup properly...

If its just for one dish such as Astra2...than an 80cm dish is not really required, a 60cm should suffice.

I cannot comment on a price but €85 does seem like a cheap price, I personally wouldnt use any provided cable instead would provide it myself, to be assured of no problems afterwards. Also what needs to be taken into consideration is the time it will take to do the install, time to get to you...etc etc..

It amazes me the ammount of people that will pay a washing-machine repairman €75 per half hr at current rates but complain when it comes to tv prices...thats the hardest part of our Job!!! We are undervalued.

No, I already have a Sky dish pointed to Astra 2. I bought an 80cm to point to Hotbird for Al Jazeera sports.

Not really complaining about the price, I just don't know what price I should be expecting to pay really.

I'd do it myself if I had the tools and the time to be honest.

Again, you pay for what you get,

    Insurance, tools, experience.
I would charge at least 100 euro for a standard installation for labour alone.

This would be a gable end, and no more that 10 metres, with all equipment supplied by the customer, with no more that 1 hour approx from my business address.

You pay for a excellent installation, and a dish aligned correctly, with correct compression F connectors, and years free viewing, :)IF the right dish is supplied from the customer, (Triax,Channelmaster, etc) not Lidi, aldi, plus other rubbish.

    Regards,

    Gerry

That's pretty much bang on what I am looking to have installed. A quality dish, quality parts (which I have bought myself). I wouldn't buy rubbish to go with the rest of my home theatre system! :)

I got the install booked for Monday morning for 100e. I got quotes from everything ranging from 85e to 190e.

The only thing I'll need to do myself is install the CAM and card I bought when they arrive later this week (postal service permitting). Shouldn't require much time and effort on my part though (I hope!).

Now to hope Al Jazeera Sports will be showing the Gamper Trophy!
