    Hi

    Possibly a silly question.

I have just ported from O2 and unlocked my Iphone 3GS.

Normally when I went to Settings - General - Network there was a Enable 3G option.

I've just gone to Network and the Enable 3G seems to have vanished from menu.

All I have in the top left of screen is the menu bar and the network I'm with (in this case 3)

Nothing to show 3G is enabled.

    Am I being really thick??

    Thanks!

You must have updated carrier settings.

Should I not have done this?

Can I not get 3G now?

Yes you should, it use the best setting for your phone.
You should have 3g if you don't see 3g then do the air plane mode on or off and you should have it or try manually from Networks.

Thanks - That's the problem. In Networks there is no option to enable / disable 3G.

I will need it on sometimes but normally I leave it off to save battery.

When I go to Networks all I have is

    Cellular Data
    Data Roaming
    Internet Tethering
    VPN
    Wi-Fi

Yes the only way to get the 3g toogle switch back is to restore phone and don't update carrier setting.
Easy option jailbreak and install sbsetting.
