About a week, two max is about all that's realistic isn't it? And nail extensions usually require refill after 3 weeks?....making enquiries about getting either or.....

It really depends on how hard you are on your nails. If your job is light on your hands yolu could get a week or two out of them.

Gel nails can last up to about 3 weeks but seem to ruin your nails underneath.

Theres a new long lasting manicure out now called Shellac that's supposed to last for two weeks without chipping: http://beaut.ie/blog/?p=24278

thanks....and gels nails must be removed by a technican after that? they really need to be redone as the nail will not be good underneath? Have had french manicures, never nail extensions though.......

A normal mani/pedi lasts me about a week. Well it might last longer, but I got them done every week.

Now though, I've moved on to Shellac nails, and two weeks MINIMUM is what I get out of them. I get the french tip done, so when my nails grow, they dont look so bad. But they don't chip, peel or look old. I would never ever go back to having just normal polish on my nails.

I pay 30 euro for my fingernails, and 30 for my toes. And its honestly worth every cent.

I'm not a massive fan of gel/acrylic nails at all. My friend done a nail course, and wanted me to be her nail model, so I went to my beautican to have my shellac removed.
She was horrified, she only recommends fake nails to those who have very bad/short nails, as she said they needed to be filed right down, and it takes a long time for your actual nail to recover.

I would personally say look for shellac. You should find out if there is a beauticans near you that do them. They're not EVERYWHERE, but they are worth finding.

There's also something called Minxx - which is supposedly extremely good also, but I can't tell you anymore about it, as I've never had it done.

But honestly -- I couldn't hold Shellac in any higher regard!!
