Can anyone remember a lego clone that was doing the rounds in Ireland back in the 80s? The bricks were very similar to standard lego except that each brick stud had a hollow in the centre of the which interlocked with a pointy bit of plastic on the underside of the piece (meaning that whilst these brick were almost identical in size to standard lego bricks could not be interconnected with them).

Some other things I seem to remember is that one of the colours the bricks came in was orange (which was unusual because orange was not part of the palette for standard lego at the time).

They may have also had a diagonal lattice design on the underside of the bricks and if I recall correctly it had german writing/letter on the bricks (but then again I was just a small kid so maybe I didn't even know what german was at the time!).

I seem to also remember these pieces being tighter than standard lego to pull apart.

I'd love to find out what they were called. Any info welcome. Thanks.

Could it have been Tente you are thinking of?

I reckon that's it! I can't be sure but the studs in the grey piece there certainly look like what I'm talking about (with the little donut effect) and I've checked the "Tente" red/white logo on wiki and it just set off alarm bells like I had seen it somewhere before. If I could see the underside of a piece then I'd be sure but I'm fairly certain no nonetheless.
