    Hey guys,

Ive been offered two master to do and have to choose one, they are the Masters in ECommerce and the Masters in Information Systems Management, and I need a bit of help in deciding between the two. Heres the skinny-

    ECOMMERCE (2year course)
    1. It has a work experience placement in the second year (thats a plus)
    2. You also have to do a dissertation in Y2 (minus)
    3. Smaller class size (plus i think)

    ISM (1 year)
    1. No dissertation (plus)
    2. Is more technical (may be a plus or minus)

The two are quite similar, 8 of the modules are the shared.

The other subjects studied on ISM are-
    Business Data Communications,
    Information Systems Management,
    Enterprise Systems,
    Information Systems Security & Ethics,
    Project

The other subjects studied on E-Commerce are-
    Database Systems and
    Business Policy

I think I'm leaning to ECommerce, based mainly on the work experience programme, but if anyone has any insight or actual experience on either course I'd love to hear it!

Personally I would choose the 1 year course. The primary goal is to get a Masters degree under your belt and if you can do that in 1 year rather than two then I would choose the former.

Another reason I would choose the ISM is because research for a thesis\dissertation is something I found difficult when I did mine. I was more used to the structure of a classes\exam and research is a totally different thing where you have to work by yourself with no real idea on the end goal. Its difficult.

Given that the courses are fairly similar I think its an easy decision. The 6 months work placement is good but either way you will just have to be prepared to take a graduate level, low paid job when starting out.

I just finished E-Commerce and a friend of mine did the ISM course. Class wise they're pretty much the same, the work experience though would make me side with the E-Commerce masters. Writing a thesis is tough as balls, but if you get a good placement that could turn into a full time job or will at least give you experience going forward.

If you have any questions about E-Commerce fire them my way.

I am in the same situation, the closing date for the ism is the 20th of august im not sure if there is time to apply for the e-commerce,The work experience would be good to have alrite but over its over 2 years.I might go for the ism and hope things have picked up by then.
