    Hi im looking to change the car for my missus
    she had a Freelander and €€€€€ later in maintaince its finally gone
    the 00 freelander cost more in maintaince and fixing things in 14 months
    then my Boxster did in 3 years !!

    Anyway im looking to get her a 02-03 mercedes ML
    anybody heard anything good or bad about them
    whats to watch for on them
    or if you know anybody thats selling a good one let me know

    Avoid. If you thought the Freelander was bad for maintenance, you ain't seen nothing yet :pac:

    the freelander was more things going wrong rather then maintanice

    head gasket
    transfer box
    electric windows
    master cylinder
    windows would go down when they felt like it
    etc

    i have heard nothing but bad reviews about them years ago from owners cant remember what exactly the problems were but they were expensive problems

    I know someone with a later one and it hasn't given any problems but thats used about town only. Interior build quality has more in common with a truck than a car though. It's shockingly bad.

    X5 would be a better buy imo

    If she wants AWD and reliability she should really be looking at the likes of a Subaru Outback or Forester IMO.

    On the engine side of things the engine is grand in an E-Class but I don't quite think it would cut it in the ML.
