Quick vlc/road tax question

    Sorry to ask but the FAQ on www.motortax.ie is not clear.

    bought a car
    got the VLC today
    Tax expired at the end of July
    Do I have to visit the motor tax office? to get my pin? Is there an easier way, i.e. phone etc...

    you dont have a pin.
    you need to tax it the old fashioned way.

    No I do no have a pin. Sigh... i guess that's a trip to the office.

    By that I mean there isn't a pin for you to get. They will have issued the pin to the previous owner over a month ago for renewal of their tax. This is your first tax so they won't issue a pin, you have to do it in person, they don't reissue pins.
