    Pot 1 Seeded teams
    Sevilla
    Werder Bremen
    Zenit St. Petersburg
    Tottenham Hotspur
    Ajax

    Pot 2 Unseeded teams
    Dynamo Kyiv
    Braga
    Sampdoria
    Auxerre
    Young Boys

So this is it. Young Boys the best draw we can get. In order of preference I'd go:

    Young Boys
    Auxerre
    Sampdoria
    Braga
    Dynamo Kyiv

Though to be quite honest bar Kiev being the hardest and Young Boys by far the easiest, the middle 3 are all tough enough games.

Didn't we play Braga in the UEFA cup a few years ago.

2007 - We won both legs 3-2. I think Braga have improved since then, but we are also a better side.

I don't know about you lads but I hope we avoid Sampdoria and Dynamo Kiev. I think we should beat the rest (although Braga gave Celtic a hiding in the first leg and could be decent). Nervous about the draw now. Lets hope whoever we get we get through the qualifier and into the main draw with the big European teams.

The perfect draw, i would expect us to beat this side comfortably, who knows we might do something special in this competition especially considering liverpool in 2005.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭Kold

Pleased with that. Better get the win though.

Lads, ye will definitely win. Its 100% guaranteed, no brainer. Spurs will categorically beat Braga hands down. Ye can't lose, ye won't lose. Welcome to the Champions League.

    /jinx :D

Thank god you said Braga then ;)

The Stade de Suisse Wankdorf...here we come.

We'll have to show some respect to Young Boys as they went to Fenerbache and won to get through, although I believe the Turks were down to ten men for most of the 2nd half.

The draw could have been a lot worse for us and I'm very happy to have the second leg at home.

Still need one or two new players in so come on Harry get busy with the wheeling and dealing.

    COYS

Seriously lads.. you don't seriously think we could pull of a liverpool in 2005.

Most of our team haven't a single champions league match to their name ffs.

At least liverpool had a squad of player who had played CL football for several seasons previously and a manager with any amount of CL experience.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,951 ✭✭✭SuprSi

I don't see why we couldn't do what Leeds did when they got into the CL, without the obvious disaster afterwards. If we get a couple of key players, we'll be very strong and I think everyone on the team will be so fired up for these matches that anything could happen.

I'm delighted with the draw. But we will have to be careful. They managed to oust Fenerbahce, so they have shown their not exactly pushovers.

I think that if we get to the group stage and do reasonably well, it will be a success in itself, getting out of the group would be a superb achievement IMO.

What we now need is three or four players of caliber to bolster the squad.

  • I really wish Defoe hadn't come out and said we are going to do better than Arsenal in Champion's League. Let's qualify first for heaven's sake. He's a bit of an idiot really.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,827 ✭✭✭Mr. Guappa

One word of caution is that they play on an astroturf pitch.. possibly an issue?

Still, its just fantastic to see Tottenham Hotspur pulled out of the hat in a Champions League Qualifier Draw

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 296 ✭✭fabvinny

fantastic draw for us,could not have done better!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,994 ✭✭✭KingdomYid

COYS! two professional performances and we will be where we all have dreamt about for years now :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,290 ✭✭✭Leinstersqspur

All in all we should be delighted that we drew the lowest seed (i think)! Lets not get carried away though, there is still a lot of hard work to do and Young Boys will be no push-overs!

But with the team effort shown against Benfica mid-week I am predicting a 1-0 win for the yids in the Wankdorf and 2-1 yids @ WHL. Great draw!

It's the best draw we could have got :D

But as said, we better not underestimate them.

Great draw for us,I hope the team will get some practice on an Astro turf pitch before heading over there, but as another poster here said I can smell Wednesday Night Football.Happy days ahead hopefully.:)

We should beat the young boys. We will be a laughing stock if we don't as we all seem SO cocky now with the draw, myself included

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 541 ✭✭✭WHL

I'm a pessimist. I predict that we beat Young Boys, come third in the group and end up winning the Europa League in the Aviva....

    *nods in agreement*

Similar to when Keane spoke out last year before the arsenal game and then we got our asses handed to us.

What will Bill and Dunphy make of us I wonder!?! :D

Great draw but pretty much agree that not to underestimate anyone.

I had a deep deep feeling that we would get a nightmare draw. Can't wait to hear the likes of "no no bill Defoe is lethargic and shouldn't be on the pitch" followed by a swift brace in the second half :)

I also agree Defoe shouldn't dream of saying things like that, it's got nothing to gain and everything to loose.

Probably cut the arse off us.;)

I'd be surpised if they even mention us as both of them are colour blind like most of the Irish Media and can only see or acknowledge teams in Red colours.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,672 ✭✭✭keane=cock

in all honesty if we dont beat young boys we do not deserve to be in the group stages.

they got this far so they deserve a bit of respect but a professional performance should see us go through.

    come on you spurs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,672 ✭✭✭keane=cock

just wanted to bump this thread! readin some on the comments here( my own included) and the result of tonight.

that old saying of chickens n eggs comes to mind.

mind u i was very surprised by the start of the match with both young boys and spurs. as good as they started we were terrible to start. second goal could have saved our blushes

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 68 ✭✭daveman16

Hard to get anything positive of of getting a hiding but at least its only half time.

OK I will find something positive. Wake Up Spurs! we are still in it. and after 1/2 hour we hardly deserve it. Its going to be some night in WHL next Wednesday. I wish i was there. the atmosphere is going to be something else, 90min from glory COYS!!!
