Buy both, each second hand for that money!

You are asking a question like BMW or Audi, it really is a personal decesion as both are great.

Zeiss seem to be more focused at low light stalking.
The Zeiss divari 6-24x72 is a serious scope, I was well impressed, however it makes rifle a shade bulky.

I would not rule out a Nightforce But I am a NF fan so I am Biased!

SWAROVSKI 1.5-10x50. One of my friends got one up the North for €1200 :D LOvely scope, very good in low light !!

Anything but an Ior scope, A lot of talk about these scopes of late but I have tried them and you are definitely only geting what you pay for ....Cheap and cheerfull!
Stick with namebrands, Schmidt and Bender , Zeiss and swarovski...

And a set of Burris tactical mounts and a picatinny rail. still way under budget. You could get a mod with the Change of 2K

    I need a pay rise :(
I want a few more scopes for different times of the year

Nightforce are great budget target scopes but not a lamper's or hunte'r scope really. To be fair Nightforce never intended their scopes to be used for lamping foxes or rabbits with antlers?
A Schmidt and Bender never disapointed for thid purpose..........

    a swro z6 ... 3-18x50 plex 1,510 pounds .

its a all round bit of kit , still lite ,for stalking . good for varmints out to a K .could be used for driven .

ps , a ballistic turret can be had for it also

Ask john Galway, he has had fantastic success with a Nightforce scope at night!

You are very misleading with your opinions on NF,
    http://nightforceoptics.com/nightforcescopes/RETICLES_OVERVIEW/RETICLES_DETAIL/reticles_detail.html

they are very much into big and small game Hunting, hence there wide range of reticles!

they just are relatively new to the game so have not got the name yet

NF are a camel of a scope compared to the top 3 .sh@t field of view and the parallax has to be adjusted to often .

    Thats your opinion JW

I find them much better than Swaro

    I have owned Both.
I had the Option of many scopes at the time as the person i purchased off is possibly the biggest retailer of high end scopes in the country.

I looked through them all in varing conditions and I went with NF, that was 2007 and i have never looked back.

just wish i had a few more of them ;)
With Burris tactical mounts taking off scopes is only a matter of ~2 clicks to get back on zero.

i would add the 3.5-15x56 and the 12-42x56 to my collection, For Very low light and High summer varminting ;)

All my optics for stalking are swarovski, 8/32 els, 6/42 and a 4-16/50 with tds-4 reticle.

One of the main reasons i use swarovski is their after sales service second to none.

    Cant recomend Swarovski enough.

John Lambert has a Z6 2,5-15/44 ballistic turret for 1300 euro cracking scope.

I would agree with JW on the parallax,. Havent owned one mind you but used one one night lamping foxes and if the fox moved closer or further away the parallax had to be adjusted.
The owner flogged it shortly afterwards for exactly the same reason.
Kahles and Swarovski get my thumbs up personally.

Thats what parallax adj is for, lay man's terms focus

John galway must be on drugs using a NF:D

NF ,are probably the best long range scope on the market .there not user friendly in the stalking world ,where the top three are .

i would not have another one for stalking and its stalking the OP is after a scope for ,plus a bit of every thing else .

I owned that scope myself and loved it, the ballistic turret is brilliant and the scope has a lovely fine plex. Broke my heart gettin rid of it but there are only so many scopes one can justify keeping!! Good value at that money, I only used it for one season.
