electrical faults 06 vw jetta

just wondering if any one has had any prombles with steering in vw cars. I have a 06 jetta , and steering has failed, vw assessed car and said it is a major electrical fault within the steering column and it will cost 1500 to repair, its out of warrenty so they wont cover it. Should they cover it as it is a faulty part ??

I have a 06 jetta , and steering has failed, vw assessed car and said it is a major electrical fault within the steering column and it will cost 1500 to repair, its out of warrenty so they wont cover it. Should they cover it as it is a faulty part ??

Dont know about the Jetta but the 05/06 Passats suffered major faults from this same problem.

Had the asme problem on the wifes 06 Passat.Got it done in Main dealers.It has to be done there as they have to reprogram some part in it.Total bill came to about €400
