Anyone know? I can't seem to find the answer on google.

I'm curious how much the average drinker in ireland spends on alcohol. It's gotta be a huge amount.

It would be very hard to find an average but yes it probably would be high.

There are many reasons for it being hard like I drink Kopparberg and that's one of the more expensive drinks compared to what my friends would drink.

That's just one of my reasons and my opinion also.

I'm confused if you're referring to high prices or the culture of extremely high amounts of binge drinking...

How much does the irish government take in taxation on alcohol per year would be a better question :D

    A butt load of money.

I brew my own beer and still spend a fortune on beer. I just spent €85 on 21 bottles of beer the other day. Of course that was my choice to buy more expensive craft beer. Do doubt I could have got 21 cans of yellow fizzy stuff for less than €20 in a supermarket.

    I would presume both.

I began brewing in the early 90's as a way to get cheap beer, was also a good hobby though. My father brewed wine in the 80's and I know many peoples parents did, my mates father had loads of beer brewing. This was no doubt to save money in the recession and not solely as a hobby.

Like you say you can get cheapo beer these days, so it is not as attractive to people -i.e. I expect many started out to save money and continued when they saw it was nice and that it was a good hobby. I see threads listing what you need to start out and it would put many people off, I did not use half the stuff people listed even though I had some of it from previous brewers. Even if money is tight these days beer is actually cheaper in the offie than it was in the early-mid 90's, when I remember the cheapo cans were £1/€1.27

Spent €60 on beer a few weeks ago. It didn't even last a week. Serious cutbacks are in order :(

I'm a little scared to know the figure. Buying from an offie isnt to bad its when you go to the pubs and get mugged is when the money starts to tot up.
