The Dirty DART stations

I have been travelling from Dun Laoghaire DART station lately and am appalled at how filthy it is. OK it is not strew with litter but the whole place has not had a decent cleaning or moping ever by the looks of things. I think it is a disgrace. The ticket office is mankey, the whole place stinks. It also seems well over manned – too many chiefs and no cleaning Indians?

In fairness have you seen the state of the DART vehicles themselves.

Really? I never get any smell there, apart from a fart or a bit of sweat off some hard working ppl. In what way do you mean its filthy? DO you mean it needs a lick of paint? Or the ground needs a good scrubbing? Over-manned? I generally ever only see 2 people there and then in the office you would have bus drivers and other train drivers waiting for their shifts to start or just ended.

That they are. I never said they aren't. I just said they are in not the best shape.

I've been commuting to-and-from Dun Laoghaire by DART for 2 years + have to say it's not that bad...ok the ground in the ticket office could do with a sweepin + a moppin but nothing major..

there's far worse DART stations in my opinion for example..Sandymount

Yea - I mean the place needs a good scrubbing, power hosing from top to bottom. It is very dirty - absolutely GRIM. At most it gets a quick swish with a dirty mop and dirty water by the looks of things.

This was post-refurbishment. No really, they properly cleaned it up a few years ago and after a month, it was worse than ever. More new shiny things to burn :D

They're on the Longford - Maynooth - Dublin line, I think it's part of the 'intercity' service. Just a different type of train, more distance covered than the DART. Pearse/Connolly take both DART and intercity trains. Wow, I feel like a locomotive nerd. You're right though, they are nice stations :)

looks like an eerrie ghost town type train station....freaky!:eek::eek:
Think a ball of hay rolling outside it might do the trick!

People think Dart stations are messy, think back.

Before the Dart suberban trains were hand downs from regional routes, many carriages consisting of Cravens and Park Royals. These were eqipped with toilets that flushed their load directly on to the tracks. It was not uncommon to see crap and sh*t paper strewn along the sleepers at a station.

There was a notice in the toilets warning you not to flush the jacks when the train is in a station.

Surprisingly the Tag on purple thingy is still standing after a couple of months at Broombridge... and still looks like new  The other day going through Broombridge there was some guy on a horse and another on a mo-ped going up and down the platform...
