    recently bought tasco scope from boards but didnt come with lens protector and cant find 1 that will fit both ends of the optic, ive seen 1st hand reddots and holos getting smashed by bbs, so my question is could a bb crack/smash scope lens??

    Not unless it was very overpowered. The scopes have thicker glass then the reflex sights, so it's much harder to break

    cool thanks coz didnt want to have to duct tape some form of lens cover to it and ruin the look,plus im a sniper, so scopes are like my children,wouldnt want any of them gettin hurt, ya know?:p

    Actually, duct tape isn't so stupid. You can cover a good 70% of the lense without your vision being affected, it just cuts down on the scope glare. This can be very good on a sunny day.

    What J.D.R said is bang on. Taping over the front element to form a "postbox" style aperture in the dead centre is a pretty standard practice among military snipers and marksmen.
    It cuts lens flare to a minimum, lens glare to almost nothing and it affords quite a bit of protection to the front element too.

    If your still a bit worried you can get a diffuser mesh guard that stops people from seeing the reflection of the lens but it slightly impairs the view down the scope.
