How long should I wait before cycling?

I have been cycling pretty well for a while now. I can go out on the bike for four + hours with out let up. I am at the stage now were I am wondering about nutrition and eating times. I need the extra energy push now as I will be planning cycling around the country soon and need to work out an eating strategy.

I have a few questions like:

I have just eaten dinner, how long should I wait before I begin cycling? An Hour? half hour? I don't want to be getting a stitch or having the dinner repeat on me.

Is going out on just cereal alone enough for morning sessions? Being two to two and half hours before a break.

Bananas cause me serious heart burn while im cycling, any other good alternative fruits?

    Thanks lads.

    hope ye can advise me

Unlike swimming, or sometimes running, I wouldn't be too concerned about heading out soon after food - unless it was particularly greasy.

eating strategy depends on intensity, and how used to eating you are. Little and often is one maxim, another is to eat and drink before you need it.

    What's in your water bottles?

your body tells you when it is hungry. Which is too late. Same with thirst.
