Half Marathon Training and Diet

    Hi All

I have already written this in the "Half Marathon Support Thread" but just thought it might be worth putting in a new thread for advice from others and also for those training for their C25K etc.

I would really appreciate some help on my diet and increasing/decreasing calorie intake as output/LSR increases. Also on whether I am eating the right foods.

    A bit of a background:

I am only a beginner runner (or crawler!!), I have only completed one 10km event but I am following the Half Marathon Hal Hidgeon plan and am currently at 7 mile LSR. Running 2 short and one long per week. Short is at 4.5 at present. Pace is very slow but lets disregard that!!! haha

Presently I am 5"7 and 10 stone. I am a size 10 and dont really need to loose weight as Im slim but I have noticed since I started running that while I have toned up alot my hips have got bigger and more musclely.

Some days I dont seem to eat enough and other days I worry I eat too much. I guess Im a little vain and find it hard to strike a balance, as my weight is important to me.

This is what I ate yesterday but I was still hungry going to bed!!
    I also did a 4.5 mile jog/run.

Breakfast: Porridge with skimmed milk, tea

Snack: Apple, orange and green tea

Lunch - 2x tuna wraps with rocket, tomato, pepper and onion

Snack: Banana, one slice toast with ham

Dinner: Pasta, tomato pasta sauce, stir fried veg, salmon

Snack: Toasted ham sandwich and a mini kitkat

Obviously I do eat differently every day and I do have "bad days" but by and large this is a typical day for me, bar the extra snacking, as I was hungry!

    Is it too much/too little?

Want to get a good balance for my training days, esp as my output increases. I guess I should eat less on non training days.

    Advice appreciated!
