I am looking to get a red dot sight that wont smash if hit with a BB, does such a thing exist?

If so where and how much?

Ive never heard of one, but you still have a couple of options....

If you're buying an eotech replica there are shields available for them, saved my own on several occasions. I've also seen kill flashes used in a similar way on scopes.

Your other option is to make one up yourself to suit whatever sight you want, really not a hard thing to do :)

Bought one of these last weekend (looks like I got the last one)
It came with clear lens covers so for protection and because it was raining
just left them on and they worked a treat.

Actually, something I'm a little bit curious about:

Has anyone shot their lens protectors? Whenever I buy eye protection, first thing I do is shoot 'em pretty much point blank to see if they're worth anything. I'd do the same in this regard, just to make sure that it'll actually protect the lens. Has anybody done that with the aforementioned products?

shot the flash killers and the eotech version before, both can stand up to a burst the flash hider just deforms and the eotech shield will crack after a few shots, but in my eyes i would rather they break than the lense, i have them there to take the sting out of the bb, same reason i use a filter on my camera when taking pictures, the filter will crack ( happened a couple of times ) but the lens itsself gets away without damage

I wouldn't do that unless I'd bought two and used one for testing. Protective lenses are only rated for a certain amount of stress, and destructive testing (the definition of what you're doing, even though you're not destroying them exactly. Non destructive testing uses dyes, ultrasound etc) weakens the overall structure and reduces their future capability and effectiveness.
I've done this before with the goggles I currently use, but I got a second pair to put through hell instead.

I do exactly that. My basic outlook is that if I'm going to wear it, I have to trust it. Same thing with regard to the protective measures for scopes/dot sights etc - if I'm to use it, I want to know it'll do its job :)

I've been meaning to buy a 4x acog, but didn't want to until I can afford both it and the kill-flash.

i think it would be a really good idea if a manufactuer could make the glass thicker or tougher because these dot sights are expensive and fragile

If you make the glass thicker, you'll get optical distortion, which screws up the point of having an accurate sight in the first place.
It's possible to make them out of ballistic grade polycarbonate, but only if you're willing to pay the greatly increased price. It'd work on some models, like C-Mores and Aimpoints, but it would make an already expensive sight even more so.

Iv found that the best and toughest red dots are made by G&P, much better and less fragile that the crappy ACM ones, i have a couple of their ACOGs & Aimpoints and they are top notch.

I know a lad that uses a G&P aimpoint on his real steel and it holds its zero no problems with propper recoil.
