Looking to book a 4 ball on a Monday in early Sept around lunch time. If we left the tee until 2 p.m the K Club can offer us a special reduced rate of €160 pp!!!!!!!!!!!!! It s on the Smurfit course . I thought the days of outrageous green fees were gone ? I havent played it and apparently it is wonderful but is it €160 wonderful ?

Absolutly not. If they quoted you 160 for the fourball then fair enough. I got it as part of a society last summer (July) for 80euro a man and although it is a nice course, its not the best parkland in the country and is not worth the 160pp they are offering. I personally wouldnt pay above 60 - 70 for it on a monday in september. I think back in the day they were charging over 300 euro for a round which is just crazy.

    massively overpriced.

a highly contrived & manufactured landscape. just yuck.

carton house would be worth a gawk.

forget it. Massively overpriced. Even if it were for the ryder cup course it would still be too much.

I played the ryder cup course last week in the JSC for €75. Lovely course but as was posted here not so long ago they don't pick up the grass clippings from the fairway and given the wet day that was in it we were getting flyers all over the place from the bad contact. I think you can play the smurfit course as part of some qualifing competition for €65. They have online booking so you could check that out.

There's no way I would spend the kind of money they're quoting on a round of golf though. Maybe if it were Pebble Beach or Augusta...... Maybe.

They were charging €300 for the Palmer Course, the OP is talking about the Smurfit Course which is not nearly as good.

I might argue that the Smurfit course is better than the Palmer course...

More variety, more interesting green complexes....

I played it for €65 2 weeks ago in the competition and complained here about the grass cuttings left on the fairway. Unless they get that right then I wouldn't recommend to anyone to play it.

We got out in Palmerstown Stud (formerly PGA National) last week for €40 a man - maybe try there.
€160 for the K is waaaay too much for what you get IMO.

Played the Smurfit course in August last year in the Ryder cup format - fairways and greens were in good nick but the bunkers were awful - no sand at all in some of them - ( i Know we had a bad summer ) but it looked as if they werent maintained at all .. think it cost us €75 a man with a breakfast ( small breakfast ) at that .. had a great day mind you but its not worth €160 pp ......-

It's only an okay course. We played open singles in Palmerstown GC (PGA National) recently €40 a head and we get a free green fee in the Winter! As good as K Club anyway

They've a few opens this week on both courses, 65e a man with a competition to boot. Never understood why open comps are cheaper than green fees but mine is not to reason why. Obviously unless you've a handicap thats no use to you.

To put in into context i'm playing OC National in Orlando on a Monday in Sept and its 102 dollars with a buggy and a cooler of water included.......oh and the 102 is the complete price for a 2 ball.

Jaysus lads it very simple in my opinion just boycott the overpriced courses and the prices wont be long coming down.

I am not sure that any course is worth that money. I am playing 2 rounds in Fota deerpark course with a 2 course dinner in the club house plus a night b&b in the hotel for €150 in August and I cant say how fota compares with the K club but I am getting more for my money

Way too much! only played it once, but thats silly price, when you can play Druids Glen for €45, which in my opinion a far superior course and just beautiful to walk around.
