Criminal Profiler

    Was watching television tonight and the show had a criminal profiler on it profiling the suspected killer.

    does ireland have criminal profilers or did they qualify in other countries.

    how does somebody go about becoming a criminal profiler in ireland, what courses would you have to do??

    I listened to a radio documentary recently about the history of criminal profiling - if I can track down a link I'll post it here.

    I'm fairly certain there's no standard career track and if profilers are ever employed by the gardai then it would be on an ad-hoc they would be otherwise employed in a forensic/clinical psychology background and would be many years qualified.

    tbh - criminal profiling is more of a handy dramatic device for writers than a career

    Was actually an article in the Guardian by the most excellent Jon Ronson on the history of criminal profiling in Britain

    he often has companion radio or tv docs to his large articles which is probably why I thought I'd heard it
