Ive had 3 iphones and on 2 of them both of which were jailbroken the wifi antenna burned out, the other one i have the longest and still no issues, i really think this was down to jail breaking it and some reports online think so too

If you install a bad repo it could corrupt your system - you can restore the iDevice but it's annoying having to.

imo, it's almost impossible to brick (totally ****up your device by jailbreaking) and even if you make a mistake with the installation it's generally reversible by a restore on itunes.

If I were you, I'd give jailbreaking a go and see if you like it ;]

The only real problem is if you install too many corrupt JB files onto your iPhone, but as Kevin! said, there's no real danger.

Had a 3G for two years didn't jailbreak it. Jailbroke my new 4 and don't see what the big deal is. Given it a nicer look, and liking having my old ctu ringtone back.

With backgrounding now standard and the new most recent apps bar, I don't see much more use for it. I tried streaming a movie but it was poor quality so I gave up. The better films are all paid apps, and I'm not going to pay for pirated movies.

Some of the game console emulators look interesting but I don't want to be messing around with roms and the like, hard enough to do that on a pc let alone on an iPhone.

Have I missed out on anything, if not I think I'll put it back to ios4 tomorrow. With the scare stories of jailbreaking damaging the phone, I don't think it's worth the risk.

Just bac up your phone before-hand and you've nothing to worry about.

Pretty much the worst thing that can happen is you have to restore and lose your music, pictures etc, but you shoud have these backed up anyway.

It's an entirely reversible process, and the stories about it damaging the phone are pretty much just scaremongering as far as I can tell.

There are no good reasons not to JB.

^^^ This is true, JB involves opening up the software on the Idevice, you are not fooling around with hardware so if any problems are encountered a restore on itunes fixes the problem, if not i am also on another Ipod Touch Fans forum which is a huge community of ipod fans, and JB is the main theme of it and they are against priacy but very helpful to people who wish to JB for normal reasons (those not wanting to pirate apps etc)

Id agree with other posters who said give it a go, i think its well worth it, even with what Apple have given in IOS4 it doesn’t come close to what people should be allowed to do with their devices, but JB gives us that freedom!

If you don’t install pirate repo’s then there should be any problems ever. Also it doesn’t void your warranty as if you need to send it back to apple you can always use restore on itunes first to delete the JB and this removes any trace of it.

I jb'd my iP4 on Tuesday morning in order to try out the Signal application. No other tat of any kind installed other than Cydia and the Signal app.

Since then my battery life has halved. Overnight instead of using around 10%, it's used more like 20% and both days since with my normal usage (which would normally result in the battery being at about 70% by days end) I usually end up with my battery being around 40%, a reminder of what my 3GS was like. I didn't have cydia or signal running in the background either so that isn't the cause.

Just restoring at the moment as the novelty of the signal app doesn't justify the battery consumption!

    Hi guys

Anyone else experiencing this? I'm thinking of doing a jailbreak mainly so i can get sms delivery reports! I'm on 3 network and this seems to be the only way

When I had the 3GS jailbroken, I noticed the battery dying faster as well as the phone being constantly hotter then it should have been. It was also slightly slower.

I attempted to jail break my 3GS the other evening, it was a disaster. Safari would not work, phone was unstable and slow. Not too keen on making a second attempt after that.. Had to restore my phone. Maybe if comex or whoever release a less buggy jailbreak I will try again.

The jailbreak is fine, and the IOS is fine, the only real problems are most of Cydias apps are not updated for 4.x.

What firmware are you? Did you try a clean restore and then jailbreak again?

Oh the other problem I had was that 'Maps' would crash whenever I tried to use a satellite view. It was fine before the JB and is fine now that I've restored. I'm no stranger when it comes to jailbreaking and I've never come across issues like these before.

I also had the issue of Facetime not working, but a reset network settings fixed that. Never again hehe :)

Jailbroken phones with the PDF exploit warner fix are safer then standard non jailbroken phones !!!

    Ios4.01

I'm put off now for jail breaking it again.
I can wait until an updated jailbreaker comes out. I could not live with all that crashing nonsense I'd end up smashing the phone on the floor.
