Apartment/Accommodation in Westport

    Hi Guys,

Have been having a look around for rented accommodation in Westport, but don't seem to be getting very far. Looking for an apartment (or small house) ideally with 1/2 bedrooms. It will be for a couple so need not be big. Looking to hopefully get something for €100-€120 p/w, but searching on the daft and rent.ie etc. seems to pull up the same very small choice of places. Is it a case of there being very little in this price range or would I be better off looking somewhere else? Maybe local papers?

Hopefully someone local or who's been in the same position can help out!

    Thanks in advance!

There's a shortage of accommodation in Westport at the moment, with the recession everyone is renting rather than buying. And half the town is taken up with tourist accommodation, especially for the summer months. It's a popular town to work/live in so Westport is more expensive than other similar town.

There should be more come September. Daft charge for ads so some of the cheaper properties don't advertise there, most classifieds are in the Mayo News. Also a lot of good places are found word of mouth, so it's worth asking around locally and checking notice boards in Tesco/Supervalu which usualy have ads.

Agree with Neworder79. Leave it until about mid-September.

Atlantic Coast Holidays ( Pat Ayleward and Robt Kilkelly ) manage a lot of the apartments. Also try local auctioneers.

Thanks guys, thought that would be the case alright. Might take a trip up sometime in the next few weeks, or closer to mid September even. Should we be able to get a place for around our budget, or would €100-€120 p/w be unrealistic?

Thanks for the help so far :)
