when he comes to about 2 foot infront of ye you come to meet him and take it from hus mouth after you dothis praise him

as the dog lives for praise he will catch on that taking it to you will get the praise

another little trick would be to maybe kneel down as he/she comes in, make a fuss and sort of move away form your position thus encouraging the dog to come towards you.

i know at the begining of the retreive training with my dog she did this for a little while and i was told to make the 'action' of her returning to get the praise and take the focus off the actual dummy, soon she was coming right in with the dummy, thats just what worked for me.
