anti virus problems

Hi folks! I am trying to install an anti virus on a laptop, it will install to a point, I can get it installed up to about 60% and then it will go no further, I have uninstalled the old version, any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

download this and run the registry tool on it:

http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

then try again.
