Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced Hotel or B&B in Reading UK?

I'll be staying 4 nights & I don't want to spend a fortune but I'd like something half decent.

I'm staying in the Mercure for the Heineken cup game. £40 per room. Town center.

where in Reading do you want to be near?

There is a Hotel at the Mad Stad, but that is out of town on a Business Park. There is the Forbury Hotel which is pretty central, you then have all the chain hotels, Travelodge, Hilton, Holiday Inn, Novotel etc.

The Mercure is a good shout though, right in the centre of town, near the station and the Oracle which is where the Cinema, Casino and restaurants are.

By the way, the is a railair coach from reading Station to Heathrow which is easier than the train, or you can also get a direct train to Reading from Gatwick or Southampton airport.

Thanks guys... I'm visiting my son in Tilehurst but anywhere in Reading will be fine.

The Travelodges are great for price but get awful reviews. Might chance on as we only need to sleep in the hotel.

Only thing is I heard that the locations are rough enough!

Travelodges are like McDonalds. You get exactly the same standard at every one, which is clean and fit for purpose. The question is do you want what they offer. I've used plenty of Travelodges and Premier inns and they are fine, but sometimes the locations aren't great.

The one in Reading is on the Oxford Road, which i would have thought would be OK. alternatively, try the Premier Inn.

There is also the calcott Hotel which is out towards Tilehurst. Might be pricey though.

Edit: just read the review for the Oxford Road travelodge. Not good at all so you may want to give it a miss.
