There's a lot of talk on the Internet about a possible New Hardware Updated iPhone 4G in October to fix the so called aerial problems, is this true or a load of Bunk!

If so is Steve Jobs, giving his customers the two fingers!:mad:

From my understanding of the problem, the only hardware fix that would sort this out would be to make the aerials no longer external, so I doubt that they will do a hardware fix. They might just start including bumpers in with the iPhones, in the box.

I don't see it possible for them to do a hardware update, and if they do, they won't upgrade any of the hardware. It will be the same phone, just a slightly different shell.

nope, and seeing as though it's not an issue in Ireland as much as in the US, doesn't really affect us! Don't think the thing could get more beautiful!

the talk is based on Apple saying they will give a free case to anyone buying an iPhone4 before 30 september and will then review the situation then. That they are looking at 'other options'.

So that could be a more complex firmware fix, a coating for the antenna, or a new antenna design. Who knows..

Most likely the bolded option above, cheap and effective.

For them to make any chances would be bad for them as most people will ask for the new one to replace there old version.

In terms of producing a new iphone you have to add up design and testing and production time. To me, and I have no production experience, it seems that will take a minimum of 12 months. When the iphone4 was found in a bar there was all sorts of talk that it was only an early prototype: the sequence of industrial production seemed to me meant that given a June product launch it was the final product. The best indicator of what Apple is doing is what they purchase: the net reported ages ago before iphone4 that they were buying every 5 mb camera component they could: and yet people foolishly believed that the iphone4 would have 8mb camera. I don't think apple have really understood what they have in the iphone: they continue with a single item product range and they don't get it that they have escaped from the niche pc manufacturer they were. I do believe they are trying to put the infrastructure in place to ramp up but they are so slow about it. I also wonder did their secrecy lead to the flawed antenna: if they were testing the thing with a disguise case on it in the wild maybe they never found the antenan thing. So will you see new hardware in October? No. Maybe next July.
