I just thought about it there and was thinking he has great comic timing and is very funny and he reminded me of Robin Williams.

What do you guys think ?

    Give us your thoughts

    I'm sorry, who?

    Never heard of the guy.

I really dislike the way something is the new something or the new someone.
I would think the guy would be grateful to be referred to Williams, but I'd rather people were their own and not set up for a big fall by being the new <insert legendary actor/actress/musician here>.

Edit: Googled him. Answer: No. He is not.

Not a chance, he was funny in The Hangover, but he plays the same character in everything, same line delivery, same expressions. He's more the new Will Ferrell, and thats not a compliment ;)

Not to be cruel or anything, OP, but you aware "The New Robin Williams" is a horrible, horrible insult?

Also, everything but the Hangover I've seen Galifianakis in has been fairly ho-hum (The Hangover was ho-hum too, IMO, but he was quite amusing). Can't see his presence in a film is something I'd be greatly excited about in any case.

That's a bit unfair ... I think Robin Williams has proven himself to be a very talented actor, who has suffered a bit from typecasting. The assembly line films such as Old Dogs, License to Wed, Runaway Vacation do his reputation a bit of damage alright. (Although hardly the worst things ever).

But he has been great in a good number of films, when given the chance. The Fisher King, Insomnia, One Hour Photo, Mrs Doubtfire, and Aladdin to name a few.

YEah ... can't say I'd call Galifianakis the next Robin Williams (or the next anyone) just yet. Wait til he's been in a few more interesting films. Certainly though he was the best thing in the Hangover, which I thought was great fun.

Oh yeah, he has definitely been in a number of very good films. I don't know though, for me his name usually conjures negative images. For every Fisher King, you have a number of films like Patch Adams or Night at the Museum! The man definitely can act when he wants, but as someone who has often starred in complete crap (and a lot of his films genuinely are total garbage!) I'm always cautious when I see his name. It's a shame he doesn't pick better films more regularly, because he clearly has talent that all too often goes to waste on generic Christmas movies :(

Robin Williams is a comic genius. YouTube his early standup. Past his comedy, he's a brilliant impressionist and outstanding dramatic actor. Even on the Jonathan Ross show a few weeks back he was quick off the mark on everything Ross threw to him. Zach Galifianakis
is only a one-trick, flavour of the week. He'll be forgotten in no time, hopefully sooner by casting agents.

That baby scene in The Hangover pretty much made me never want to see this guy ever again.
