This is a bit Girly, but does anyone know how fashionable the horse show will be on the Friday? Don't want to be too over or under.

I dont think you can be "too over" at the horse show really. Its where all of Irelands toffs congregate for a brief few days in their finery.

I take it you have never been?

OP Thursday is Ladies Day, you'll be fine going casual on Friday. Just wear what you are comfy in.

Friday is casual but you will still get people dressed up.

tbh even on thursday (ladys day) you will still get people in their casuals, at the end of the day, its about the real horses not the clothes horses.

fanastic few days - i love it. not going to make it this year

Whatever you're comfortable in, people go in either, it's a seriously mish mash event, you'll see people in their everyday clothes carting around bargain horse rugs and others suited up drinking sparkling wine thinking they're the business. Depends on what you want to do as well, if it's sit around, soak up the atmosphere and see some horses the dress is fine, if you plan on running around between events and visiting stands in the main hall I wouldn't advise it.

Wear what ever you want. Go in jeans and a t shirt and you won't stick out, go in a simple summer dress and sandals from Pennys and you won't stick out, go in a really posh dress and high heels from Brown Thomas and you won't stick out. There will be all types of people there, dressed in all kinds of clothes, so its impossible to stick out really.

The people who go to see the horses tend to dress more casually. At least that's the impression that I got of them sitting in the stands with them at last years show. The "see and be seen" crown who go for the social aspect to hang out in the bars & restaurants and get their mugs in the paper, tend to dress more formally. But there are no hard and fast rules. Just remember if you are planning on doing/watching horsy stuff, grass is not the most forgiving of grounds if you are in high heels. As wonderfulname said, if you are going to be doing a lot of running around between events, dress for comfort. If you are going just for the craic, knock yourself out with the bling !

You would be better off posting that in the Fashion Forum, we are not known for our style around these parts

I posted it here because I wanted opinions from people who have been to the Dublin Horse Show and have seen what people wore.
