Can you run a gun without a fuse? Thinking of using 7.4 lipos and 8.4's. What are the risks and are they bound to break more frequently?

Quick answer to the first question is - YES you can run an AEG without a fuse.

BUT - The fuse is a safety device designed to "blow" when the current in a circuit gets above a certain rating.

In an AEG, if the fuse was removed and the gap bridged the AEG would continue to work as normal. If however there was a problem eg. the gearbox locked up and you held the trigger down, the motor would still try and turn the gears. The wiring loom would heat up (positive side) and either melt the insulation or weld the trigger contacts together.
Not too good for the AEG. Cheapest option in the long run is replace the fuse - not the AEG.

I have a few AEG's without fuses, never had a problem with them before. In saying that when the time comes to do work on them I'll probably throw a fuse (resetable) in them while I'm at it.

if the aeg stops fireing stop pulling the trigger. if your using it without a fuse this is even more relevant. I'll be honest, most of mine have the fuse removed and I've had no trouble but I apply the above.

Ive seen a few people without them too, but for the sake of a few quid id just replace it. Its a safety feature there for a reason.

You have to be a right eejit, to not know if your motor is getting overloaded, I mean, it stopping or slowing down is enough to tell you that.

Still...Im sure its there for a reason, better safe than sorry especially when theres like 60-100 quid on the line...
