Splitting audio channel

Hello, Just wondering can anyone recommend some freeware software that would allow me to split the audio channel of a video file to allow me to hear sound out of both the right and left channel. Thanks

Thanks!

So I saved the video as .avi and extracted the audio into mp3 and fixed it, but now how do i go about embedding the audio back into the video?
