cracked sump

    cracked sump on 1998 vw golf,can anyone tell me are they handy to replace or is it a major job,would appriciate any help thanks

    Shouldn't be a big job, as long as the car hasn't been run without oil.

    Simple but messy job to do, there are a load of small bolts holding the sump on.
    I'd check the condition of the oil pickup pipe while the sump is off, they tend to get clogged and starve the engine of oil.

    Your sump might be different to this but you get the idea.
