Im looking for any tips/drills people have used or know of to help hit decent iron shots. I hit fat shots mostly and take a divot about 6 inches behind the ball, Ive tried to just move my stance further up to the ball but then i end up hitting a thin shot or topping the ball any help would be great thanks.

The most common cause of fat shots is a lack of wrist break. If you don't break your wrists your angle of attack will be very shallow causing 'fat' shots.

Your best bet is to seek lessons from a good teaching pro (which I am not so treat the above statement with caution)

Thanks for the tip but i seem to have solved my problem by pure chance. I was hitting a few balls on the range with my friend and asked him to look at my swing after watching my swing he said choke the clubs down about an inch and try swing. I didnt believe him at first but 9/10 shots were crisp and not fat and no sacrifice in distance.:pac:

i wouldnt go too far down or you just end up punching all your shots,
work on your set up and stance,
thats sounds like the problem to me
