Last weekend my lovely wife managed to reverse into a '08 Mondeo while parking alongside in a hotel cap park.
She scraped the rear wheel arch & dented it, she also damaged the rear bumper just behind the wheel arch.
I just saw the pictures on her phone, none of the tail lights are damaged.
She did the right thing & went into the hotel looking for the owner who has been dead sound about it.

Anyway he's off this week to get an estimate from a local lad who does crash repair.
Anyone able to give me a guess of the repair costs based on my best description of the damage.
    Thanks.

Depends on what type of repair the guy is happy with.

If the skin isnt ripped or pinched it can be beaten out and re-sprayed pretty easily, if hes not happy with that then new rear wheel arch + bumper, labour and spraying would be 600 - 800 in an indy.

Depending on the cost if going the insurance route, you might have to use a repair place approved by the insurance company so it might be a waste of time looking, depends what you're doing.

I knew that would help but it's still on her phone.
I could get it transferred tonight.

To do the job in a bodyshop (Which the guy will probably want), I'd say somewhere around 800 Euro inc VAT for both panels.

From my experience, what you described will no way be less than or in and around 1000, 1400 if you're lucky

I can recommend a good divorce lawyer if that helps?

The cost of honesty is pretty high these days!

Had much the same thing happen to mine, bumper and wing, cost was €700 mates rates at a good bodyshop.

Fair play to your missus for looking for the owner. Not many honest people like that in this **** hole of a country now..

Fair play to her for looking for tracking down the owner.

as said above its almost impossible to give a costing for the damage without seeing the pictures. However even the slightest tip to a car these days can cost an awful lot to put back to its original condition.

The official quote came back €1332.49.
    You both get gold stars.

I checked my insurance & I've got step back protection so I loose 2 years off my NCB.
My quote for next year has gone up by €150, not too bad.

Everyone I've told the story to are flabbergasted that she reported herself.
It seems that the default setting nowadays is get the f_ck out of there if you're not seen.

I done what you misses done the other morning, reversing out of a tight spot, no excuse i know, tapped into a parked car setting off the alarm. Got out and checked, no damage to either car. Still call the owner out to tell him, he came out and was glad there was no damage told me not to worry about it..

Up by 150 taking into account 2 years gone or taking into account two years gone and a claim. Remember no claims is a discount off the base price which goes up with a claim.

I'm not sure, I asked the girl to give me a ballpark quote for next year based on me making the claim & that's the figure she came back with.
I'll find out for real next October.

Dont know why you would think that, it is a common misconception with people these days. Unless you have had a serious accident (claim more than 20k) or multiple claims over a short period this is not an issue. All you lose when you claim is your NCD or in this guys case its stepped back.

People worry way to much about premiums etc. after an accident. My old fella had a tip (8k) last year and he had no step back protection and lost 5 years NCD. His insurance doubled to 500 quid on renewal. No big deal.

I was 2 months shy of 4 years claim free with Quinn. I had an accident and the total claim came to 6500 euro. So the lovely people at Quinn informed me that my policy would be starting back at year 0 and my insurance renewal would be just over 1700 euro:eek: it was around 650 before hand. Needless to say when I hear their ads on the radio I cant help but laugh.:P

Some fuc*er hit my car in a car park going back now, posted already about it, drove off.
Quinn treated me like I did it myself and wanted to screw me on renewal despite having claims protection, just moved.
She was right to say it, if I'd have caught the person doing it and driving off I would have flipped.
It happened me twice again recently, some sh*t scrapped my bumber and another ding from someones door presumably, I'm glad I cant afford to get a new car, be full of dents in no time :/
