O2 online orders - Delivery?

Anyone who ordered a phone online from O2 on Friday have it delivered yet?
They don't seem to have a clue when they might be delivered and although they sent emails saying it was shipped on Friday the tracking number still doesn't work.

Anyone with any more luck or a working tracking number?

(Have tried new O2 'help' site by the way, what a farce of a site! Don't think I'll be using that any more)

Yeah, tracking number shows nothing (I got an email on Friday @ 5pm saying it is being shipped). I'd still expect it to arrive today/tomorrow.

Did your card get charged yet? mine is show a charge that went on yesterday.

Terrible service compared to Three delivering on Saturday. Not holding my breath for today, tomorrow at best I'm guessing.

seems most likely, the 'shipping' emails sent on Friday appear to have been false. Probably just sent them out to keep people quiet.

O2s customer service has turned quite a bad corner lately in my opinion. I have bad past experience of 3, but they've wiped the floor with O2 and Voda on the iphone launch, both on prices and service.

Although I see over on voda forum that people have been getting their phone today...

No luck here either with the tracking number. Got the shipping email on Friday but nothing since.

I rang the An Post customer service number and he reckons they still have it in O2 and haven't sent them into An Post yet. Apparently O2 can get the tracking number themselves without having handed it over to An Post.

    Brilliant system.

Very shoddy on O2's part to let them sit there over the long weekend.

Sounds about right, I wouldn't mind so much but I asked on the O2 forum on Friday for some idea of expected delivery to be sure I didn't miss it and all I got was a 'funny' reply from the O2 rep instead of that info. Unbelievable!

Forgot to add earlier that I also rang O2 (their 'fulfillment company' on 1850 222 020) and got to voicemail. I left a message asking them to call back. That was 2 hours ago.

If anyone else manages to get more info, please let us know..

so no luck with tracking number still, O2 shop not bothering to reply to emails either asking if their claim to have shipped the phones on Friday was actually correct or not.
An Post say that O2 definitely haven't shipped them, and are lying.

Appears everyone is in the same boat, whatever about taking 5 days to make a delivery, lying about actually having shipped them is a bit much. Reports that someone was told the shop weren't releasing the phones until this evening, which will be a full 4 days after then claimed they had shipped them! The mind boggles.

Wonder if they *actually had any* iphones kept back for online sales? Starting to think they didn't. Given that they've already charged my credit card I'm will not be happy if I do not receive the delivery tomorrow.

Tracking numbers still invalid according to An Post.
This is turning into a complete joke.

Same here - invalid tracking number. Still no call back from O2 fulfillment. So they take our money and lie about sending us the goods. Good job O2.

I'll try and ring again this morning at some stage if I get a chance and see what the hell is going on.

same here, tracking number still invalid, O2 still not bothered to get back to me. Heh, I didn't go to 3 mostly because of their poor customer service! They already beat O2 on everything else, this is the last thing O2 are supposed to not stink at!

Well I noticed in My O2 on the website the imei of the phone attached to my account has been updated. So this would indicate that they do actually have the phones. I think I read on the O2 forum that they asked the fulfilment company not to release the phones until payments had cleared.

Not too bothered myself, as I'm in the UK at the mo so wouldn't be able to get it anyway ;). But I would like to have it for the weekend to play with!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44 spuncy

I checked the O2 website as well and the IMEI does seem to be changed alright. I guess that means there must be a phone allocated to me.

Interesting about them not releasing the phones until payment has cleared. Not sure that's the case though and unlikely with credit card payments - sounds more like a smokescreen.

Anyway, it's not a life or death situation, but it is irritating..

I called O2 this morning and asked about my order and why the tracking code wasn't working. They told me that it left their warehouse on Friday the 30th. I asked if other customers have been receiving their phones. Was told yes. Then I asked what I should do next. Was told that I should take it up with An Post.

heh, they are lying. An post told me again this morning that O2 haven't shipped the phone. They said they'll be getting on to O2 to complain themselves as people are phoning looking for their packages when O2 haven't even shipped them, having told everyone on Friday that their tracking number would work within 24 hours.

Users on the O2 forums have been told that the phones haven't shipped and might shipped today as they were delayed while O2 'set up plans'

A mod over there said at 8.15 they would fine out what the story was but still hasn't updated the users, they are likely cooking up a PR spin.

O2 still have bothered to get back to me.

Waiting for 1 myself ,buts its 3 business days so if it arrives tommorrow then O2 have done what the T's and C's say

3 got their phones to people last Saturday ....but cant see threes network lasting long when all these users start using their phones under normal usuage!

O2's network has served me well before my Iphone 3g died in April

O2 's labels are pre printed , scanned on collection or on arrival to an Posts depot

O2 havent helped by giving different stories but overall the Phones are within leadtime and Ive got some work done by not having mine this week so far ! :-)

I think the 3 business days is from shipping so if they are only going out today they'll likely claim delivery by Monday is ok.

They've said over on the O2 forum that none of the phones have actually shipped and that they 'will' ship tonight and 'should' be with people tomorrow.
They've some BS story to go with it also.

Don't really believe anything they say anymore unfortunately.

mine has started working so hopefully get it in morning. Talk about making the easiest of actions (like handing a package to the postman) a saga!

Starting to think I've made a major mistake signing up to an O2 contract again having been out of one for so long. They have a lot of negatives compared to 3 and only 2 perceived benefits, coverage and customer service.

The customer service one isn't true anymore so it's a question of comparing their large cost overhead against their slightly better coverage than 3.

Mine's working now as well, but I don't live in Cork City so I wont hold my breath for tomorrow.
At least I know it's left O2 anyway.

Yup, mine's also left o2 and is on the way.

Does anyone know if you get a micro sim with your phone when you order it online with 02?

    Yes

Thanks Grizzly, on another note I have backed up all my contact on the 02 sim back up online. If I go into a 02 shop can they transfer them onto my new iphone or can I do it online? I have left my laptop at home down the country and won't be home for a few weeks so can't transfer them to the .csv file and into itunes etc...

    Thanks
    MM

You can take the new microsim and insert it into your current phone (using the supplied adapter) and copy your contacts to it. Then insert the microsim into your iphone to copy contacts into iPhone. Instructions will be in the pack that comes with phone.

Back to the thread topic: O2 are saying all orders made this morning will be delivered no later than Thursday, shipped on Tuesday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,541 ✭✭✭irlrobins

Yep, it can. O2 will supply an adapter for it (very handy). It's stuck to the back of the large O2 brouchure thing.

This link might be helpful too.

They didn't supply me with an adapter:(

I believe a lot of people weren't supplied with them in shop or online.

Almost thru mine out, I assumed the O2 page was just bumf. Thankfully saw the adapter on the back before I did.

weird, I still have all my stuff and it's not on there. I got a pile of A4 pages with plan info on them (including editing notes!), insurance form, receipt, return info, insurance form etc. then the microsim in it's own wrapper and the iphone. No large O2 brochure at all..

good news if true, but they've been very economical with the truth lately so I wouldn't rely on what they say.

Heh, this is hilarious, just got an email reply to my query sent on 2nd and again on 3rd of August asking why An Post hadn't received by order yet.

They have confirmed that it did leave O2 on the 30th!!!!!!

Thats nice considering I know for a fact that it didn't leave O2 until the 2nd!

O2s customer service really has become laughable. Who would have thought that the people on this thread were the lucky ones, with loads of others still waiting on their phones having ordered them nearly 2 weeks ago...

God, that's just incredible on their part.

Personally, I placed an order for an iPhone 4 at 10am yesterday, and it has yet to have shipped. Although this pales in comparison to what many have been put through, I still find it unbelievable that O2 can't even ship an item that they had in stock the day after it was ordered! Shoddy.
