Bell's Palsy?

NOTE: I know I'm not allowed to ask for medical advice, and I'm not. I'm just asking for experiences.

For the last two days, I've experienced a numbness in the right side of my face. I can close my left eye on its own fine, but cannot close the right eye on its own (though I can blink and close my eyes fine). I can smile on the left side of my face and move my lips to the left, but not the right in either case. I googled a bit, and the most reasonable answer I've found is Bell's Palsy. I cannot afford to go to a doctor as a) I have no health insurance here in Germany yet and b) I have very limited funds. I'm going to assume that Bell's is what it is, if it's not then I'll have to deal with that. But, for now, it's the best I can assume.

Anyway, has anybody experienced anything similar or have Bell's? From what I've read, it appears to be temporary, but I'd like to know if anyone else has got through it and can affirm this for me or offer any other advice.

Thanks for anything shared. I'm scared. :(

EDIT: My cousin suffers from Cerebral Palsy from birth. From what I've read nobody's sure if it's genetic or not, but I figured I'd ask if it's relevant?

It does sound like Bells Palsey. You will need probably medication, such as steroids. But it could be something else, more serious. Only a medical professional who examines you will be able to diagnose you for sure. I assume this thread will be closed because the only advice anyone can give you is to get to a doctor a.s.a.p.

    Good luck.

My dad suffered from Bell’s palsy as a teenager (woke up one morning with half his face paralyzed he said that it was because he had sat in a bad draft for ages).

Get to a doctor straight away.

He was lucky and was diagnosed quickly with it and managed to get physiotherapy quickly that managed to fix it but he told me that someone he knew later in life didn’t get help and never fully recovered.

My niece had it a couple of years ago when she was 8. Through physio, facial exercises and diet it has gone away. However, my cousin's husband got it when he was about 33. It has permanently paralysed one side of his face. He is now about 55. You really need to go and see a doctor but if you can't figure out a way to pay for that, at least go to a reputable pharmacy and ask to speak to the pharmacist.

Liah I am sorry I had to close your thread

The only advice we can allow in a case like this is to go to a doctor, it is also the correct advice

I know you said funds are tight but you really need to find a way, maybe there are free clinics or the German equivilant of A&E
