Tailored shirts on a budget

I'm looking to get a few shirts for myself. I've a fairly slim frame, but I'm tall, 6ft 3, so finding a good fit is very difficult.

I've seen Marks and Spencers offering tailored shirts online for €70+, and money is tight so that's a no-go.

Then I came across Itailoronline.com: here's the link: ITAILOR

I was wondering, has anyone heard of them before? They say the shirts are 100% cotton, but the price is so low. I'd hate to spend a few quid on a few shirts and find out I was duped

Check out the section where you can custom design the shirt though. Seems pretty awesome. Anyone ever buy from them before?

Any other retailers/e-tailers you'd recommend? Thanks!

T M Lewins - doing shirts 4 for €140. Quality shirts for a rock bottom price.
Thomas Pink - a bit more expensive but has that designer touch and a very nice shirtmaker indeed.
Henry Jermyn - quality shirts - pricy - about the same price as M&S are charging you.

I didn't reply to your post earlier because I've never tried an online shirt maker for the simple reason that the above 3 shirtmakers listed above provide everything I've ever needed in a shirt and it works out cheaper then the tailor made shirts. Save your money for a tailor made suit instead. :)

I purchase my 100% cotton shirts in Germany.

    €16.00 each.
    Fantastic value and very stylish.

Peek and Cloppenburg is the retailers name.

I am not sure if they will sell over the net to you.

Just on this point, the other day I was having a look in Lewin and I asked the price of a particular shirt and I was told €105 or 5 for €140. Now..., WTF?? I know its a good deal but if they are prepared to hand over 5 shirts for only slightly more than they are charging for one shirt, they must be making huge mark ups on the sale, and it feels kind of like a rip off (I know, how can a good deal be a rip off!). BUT, I only wanted one shirt, not 5, so I put it back and left the shop.

But anyway their "slim fit" shirts aren't really slim fitting at all, Pink's look the nicest but I haven't tried one yet.

I'm a fan of TMLewin too, they've got a great fit for me.

Tbh, I wait until they do their 4 for 100 offers before buying from them though. There's rarely I time where I don't want 4 shirts :)

Yep, I got stung for a single shirt in there for €80 - but only once. These days like Faj I just wait till the sale and then buy 8 or 12 at a time.

I've never tried any of their SlimFit shirts for a couple or reasons. First and foremost a slim fit wold never come near fitting around my belly. :o

Secondly, even when I was a skinny young thing I hated slimfit. A shirt SHOULD be big and bulky and comfortable and double as a nightdress for your paramour.
Those slimfit shirts always look to me as if half the material is missing or you bought the shirt when you were 16 and now at the age of 21 you are still trying to wear it.
Slimfit in shirts or suits is just wrong making the wearer look long and gangly is they are already thin and woe betide anyone who is a bit rotund trying to look good in a slimfit anything.

    + 1
    for TM Lewin shirts.
I dont know what it is about Thomas Pink shirts but I cant Iron them, ever. after about 3 washes I can't get them right.

Another idea is made to measure. I got a few from a Hong Kong tailor who comes over to dublin every second month. PM me if you want his details.
I have some of them for over 4 years and they are still in perfect nick.
They cost me about €50 to €55 each (I think, we'll I wouldn't pay more anyway)

Personally I don't particularly like slimfit shirts. I find the armhole is too high and I'm sweating from the friction within an hour of putting it on.

However I loathe classic fit shirts as the sleeves can usually fit two of my arms in there and there's enough excess material at the back to fit a child into!

Some places seem to have a hybrid, usually called tailored fit which fits me perfectly without the sweating or excess material.

To help the OP I have used this site before, http://ravistailor.com/

The site is very busy looking but once you get into a shirt selection (just pick any style, you can change it to whatever you want) it's great.

Just make sure your measurements are correct. I ordered a shirt from them and loved it. Tailored fit, double cuff, no placket, no pocket, MOP buttons, no pleats, spread collar.

You can customise everything from square or rounded cuffs to the height and type of stitching in the collar. I even had the left wrist circumference made 0.5 inches bigger as I wear my watch on that wrist.

Construction took about three weeks but delivery was free and only took five days. Their customer service is excellent as well and they'll even throw in a free silk necktie with my next order.

I don't want to come across as a shill for the site but it was the first bespoke item I've ever ordered and I was very happy with them. Price was 72E but it was 8E extra for the MOP buttons and I ordered from the Deluxe range, you can get them for 40-50E if you choose a cheaper cloth.
