Which would be a better car to run. Considering both were 1.6 petrols. Taking into account service intervals. As far as I know they are both chain run and which would have better mpg as they are both nearly the same weight?
    Thanks

wouldnt the avensis be a class above the focus?

If you have both at the same price Id be taking the avensis every day of the week.

You need to compare like with like.

The Avensis is in the same class as the Mondeo not the Focus. The Focus is smalle and lighter than the Avensis so a 1.6 litre engine Focus will be more lively and economical than a 1.6 litre Avensis.

Focus, any day. The Avensis will suck your will to live out of you!

Avansis will return 35mpg, approx, the Focus about 10% more economical.
