OK, just checking, does the paint you buy in Airsoft shops stick to the metal of the AEG's? I have only ever used it for the ABS bits.

    Thanks,
    Jack

What paint do you buy? That's quite a generic statement really.

Should do. That type of paint - paint for plastic, that is - is usually multi-surface; plastic, wood, metal, etc. I use that standard stuff and then give it two protective coatings to keep it safe.

Sorry. Usually the paint from NFM. Think its like EC paint.

It all depends on the surface your spraying. If its shiny metal the paint generally won't last as long. The same goes for plastic.

Always give a few coats, and let sufficient time between each coat for drying:)

Just to clarify above, I meant I give it a coat or two of the paint, then two coats of clear hard coat to protect it.

Don't worry. I am not new to painting, just wanted to check if I needed the metalic paint, or would the other paint work.

    Thanks for all the help

Generally a normal Acrylic paint will do. :)

best result is to strip the paint off the piece give it a coat or two of primer and a few coats of acrylic, you can give it a coat of laquer as well just make sure you don't use mix cellulose laquer with acrylic paint or vice-versa you'll have to start again.
you'll get most shades you want in any half decent car part or autobody shop (halfords for example), most will mix custom shades for you too on the spot.

    1) Strip it of paint completely.
    2) Clean it.
    3) Clean it again.
    4) Apply a base coat of primer.
    5) Key it, if neccessary.
    6) Apply *light* coat.
    7) Leave to dry for adequate time.
    8) Repeat 6) and 7) as required.

    End.

If you want to paint an AEG, AEP, GBB etc with something that will last use enamel paint it will cover any surface and if prepared and applied properly (follow NakedDexs tips) it will last a LOT longer than latex and alkyd paints.

I prefer using airbrushes and an oven for metal parts and some types of abs but the methods you use are your own.
