I have always have GLASS lens and havent ever heard of such stupidity of using PLASTIC until a few years ago when they tried to give me PLASTIC LENS!!!! (No surprise, everything is getting as cheap as can be!!)

They hurt my eyes like crazy!!!!!

You basically have to BEG the eye place for CLEAR GLASS these days!! (They have gotton so cheap they dont wanna spend the $$$ -- and they try and talk you out of it!!)

I prefer BIGGER FRAMES (Like the ones they all used to give out in the 70s and 80s) I think these new small METAL frames are pieces of crap and dont feel well......

    Ah well...........

    hi,
it is possible to get glass. The problem with glass is it breaks very easy, and this is a little dangerous. If you have a large prescription then glass is a great option as it is thinner then plastic. But you can get uncoated plastic lenses, but for most people the coatings are much better as you wont notice the reflections. I dont understand how the plastic hurts you but have a good chat with your optician about your options. Plus the larger frames can ruin the look of a prescription but whatever you find most comfy.

The problem with glass lenses tends to be the weight of them, especially if you want a large frame. Bigger frames need bigger lenses that weigh more. Big glass lenses weigh far more than big plastic.

As far as not wanting to spend the $$$, glass lenses don't cost a great deal different to plastic.

In most cases plastic is by far the best way to go.
