    Hi guys

Was not sure if this should be in the tax forum or the state benefits forum, as it kidn of spans both :( I used to be a PAYE worker, but an unemployed so am signing on for credits at the moment (not eligible for JSA). However, I want to apply for a contract job as a sole trader so was going to register for self-employed taxation (I think it's a TR1 form I need to fill out) but this would mean that I am not unemployed anymore and thus not entitled to sign on, even though I would not be earning any income (i.e. if I don't get the job), is this correct?? Then if I were not to get the job, could I undo the TR1 form so to speak, by registering as a PAYE worker again (even though unemployed?) so that I could sign on again for credits??

You need to go to your social welfare local office and speak to the facilitator to let them know your plans. In certain circumstances, the long-term unemployed are eligible for grants and continued benefits for up to two years if they become self-employed.

    Hi

You may be entitled to the back to work scheme which allows you to keep your current benifit while persuing a self employed route. you need to talk to your local employment partnership regarding this and you will need to have your business plan thought out also.

    Kind Regards
