handicap question

    hi, iv been playing golf for 1 year, had 2 lessons, i roughly get to play either 9 or 18 holes on average a week, but sometimes going 2 weeks without playing, iv hit 95 on a par 73 and a 94 on a par 71 in the last 2 weeks, im just wondering what people were shooting after a year and how they have progressed, iv no handicap yet as im a beginner member, ps im 30 cheers

    Probably not a good idea to compare yourself with others when starting off. People progress at different speeds due to several things like levels of skill, amount of practice and lessons etc.

    I started playing golf when I was kid, we used to knock a ball around the park beside us and then we progressed to pitching putt. When I joined a club I hit the ground running and after a year I was off 8.

    I'd imagine that with plenty of practice and a few lessons you could knock plant of shots of your handicap in the first year.
