Query about changing flights

I have flights booked to Boston in November for a wedding. I was told at the weekend that the wedding has been cancelled as the couple have split up.

I have the flights paid for and holidays booked off for work but not too pushed going to Boston now as I have been there a number of times before. Is it possible to change my flights to somewhere else (somewhere in Europe and not the USA) and is there any charge for changing flights?

If you phone or email the company from whom you purchased the ticket. Just tell them what you have told us. Then ask them, "what do we do next"?

You could read the terms and conditions in advance to see:
    - if you are entitled to 0 -100% cash refund
    - a voucher for another flight of your choice
Even if your entitlements are much less than the cost of the ticket, you can still ask them nicely based on a goodwill basis.
If it is a travel agent I recommend a personal visit to their office. Bring proof of purchase and tell them that this wedding was cancelled. Practise saying at home with someone what you are going to say. Make notes of the main points to avoid digression. If this travel agent deflects you, say gently but firmly "would you please hear me out". You can expect to hear; "but you are only entitled to....", ask for GOODWILL. They'll usually tell you that it will be passed to the manager or owner. Ask to speak with him/her there and then as you have little time. Ask for his name and tel. no.
