Tin Whistle

A friend of my dad bought him a tin whistle - it was a guinness souvenir one,

He has been teaching himself to play for the last couple of months

however the whistle seems to emit a lot of bum notes - notes crack all the time he can't seem to hold a note steady.

Is it possible that the whistle is just poor quality ? and he should look for a better one or are they all the same and it is his playing style that would cause this problem ?

    thx

Bum notes on a tin whistle are, I'm afraid, most often due to poor finger sealing of the holes or, to a lesser extent, inconsistent input air pressure....
