A new pilot website will be launched tomorrow to give an insight into how Irish courts sentence people convicted of crimes.

Irishsentencing.ie is designed to be a resource for people who want to examine and understand sentencing in the Irish Courts.

I assume that this is the results of the ISIS project.

Most of the sentencing information comes from Dublin Circuit Court, so not exactly representative of sentencing across the board.

Just been reading through a few district court sentences, out of boredom.

I find it absolutely ridiculous that I can't find a single drunk driving conviction where the accused was disqualified from driving for more than 4 years, while I've found a number of cases where the accused was driving without insurance and was banned for 6, 8, 10 or even 20 years.

Driving without insurance does not place increased risk on the lives of people around you. Drink driving does, simple as.
