looking for ideas on where to go for 3 weeks early may next year budget will be approx 3000 euro

    we have been so far:

    Paris
    Budapest
    London
    Manchester
    Liverpool
    All Around Ireland
    Orlando
    Canaries

I like the idea of a maldives holiday but budget would never stretch to it.

so any ideas would be great.

    3 weeks away sounds great!

I don't know how you feel about multi-base trips or how much travelling you'd like to do once there.

Here's a trip myself and some friends did a few years ago and it was super. I'd love to do the same with the boyf.

Dubrovnik for a few days, see the islands, very relaxed. - 7 days
Fly to Zagreb for 1 day ( no more, its not very big) aircroatia.com have cheap internal flights, takes 1 hr.
Get train to Ljubliana, Slovenia, very nice city. 3-4 days
Go to Lake Bled ( about 40-60 mins from Ljubliana), beautiful spot, you can do all sorts of outdoor activities regardless of experience. 3-4 days
From Ljubliana get train to Venice, you could split this leg by visiting Trieste on the way too. ( train takes about 3hrs) - 5 days

If the travelling doesnt appeal to you, you could spend 3 weeks on the Dalmation coast alone checking out all the islands.

You could also see a lot of Italy in 3 weeks, their train system is very good and makes getting around pretty quick. I'd also recommend the Amalfi coast, it's very romantic. I stayed in Sorrento at the Aminta hotel which is up on the hill, is perfect for relaxing, eating and drinking.

Best of luck with your plans!

thanks for such a detailed reply i will have a look at everywhere you mentioned - travelling via train dosnt bother us at all not keen on too many extra flights tho with the amount of time you loose in airports

all we want out of this is memories and thumbtacks on a map of different places we have been so multiple cities over the 3 weeks would be great, but we are also comfortable staying put in one place aswell.

basically each year we do something big for our anniversary it might only be a night somewhere but its to somewhere the rest of the year the money couldnt be justified being spent on.

thanks for replys any other ideas gratefully received

    Ohh, lucky you!

Personally, I would suggest island hopping in Greece. May would be a lovely time to visit the islands. Get an aerlingus flight from Dublin to Athens, spend a couple of days seeing the sites, then get a domestic flight to one of the Cyclades islands, and ferry hop from there. For example Santorini - Mykonos - Naxos - Paros.

Or fly to the UK, and get a direct flight to Santorini or Mykonos, and hop from there.

    Happy planning :)

Thailand or Malaysia? Gorgeous beaches, and since the cost of living is so affordable over there, your budget should stretch easily enough.

Since you have 3 weeks, you could easily go further afield ...
