Has anyone tried printing out a short story and selling it? Or even given it away to family and friends? Did you get any illustrations done on it?

    Selling it to whom?

I've sold the odd story to the likes of Ireland's Own, but they don't pay much, and I've won the odd competition with short stories, but in general, I think they are more trouble than they are worth for the amount of work you put in.

To be honest, family and friends are usually not that interested. It's more likely other people who write or read short stories who would take the time to read it.
