If Margarito beats Pac he will prob have to fight him. If that doesn't happen I don't see anyone for him, unless he is willing to step it up to 154 to fight Sergio Martinez. Paul Williams says he can make 147 but I doubt it. I think Money May sees these guys as too risky though.

give floyd some respect will you

he's beaten everybody he's fought, and always convincingly,

if Manny has nothing to hide, he'll take the fight on against Floyd,

he knows he'll be sparked if he fights floyd, thats my opinion

my views on floyds next fight??

if he cant get juiceman into the ring, then he should call it a day

floyd needs to grow a pair and stop making excuses for the fight not going ahead. If he wants to cement his legacy he needs to take this fight whilst both are as close to peak as possible. His legacy will be tarnished forever of this fight doesn't happen. I reckon manny would sign the contract tomorrow as he wants to go down as the greatest who ducked no one.

No else for Floyd to fight but Manny. Everyone else he has fought he has beaten pretty easily bar the De La Hoya fight a few years ago.

I have the feeling that if Manny fights Marquez then it will be his last fight, due to his commitments in Phillipino politics.

Manny agreed to the testing, he agreed when he didnt have to, and he wanted to fight, it was floyd who didnt reply before the deadline, it's floyd who's making every excuse under the sun, it's floyd who's running scared and eveybody can see him for what he is now...

he's a teriffic boxer, fantastic athlete and a gifted talent but he'll always go down as the man who ran when manny wanted him in his prime

even if it does happen (which i never expect it to now) it'll always be under floyds stipulations...some angle so he doesnt have to go in there and stand up and fight...

The deadline stuff was BS, both of these lads are equally responsible, both want big pay days before risking a loss and dropping there potential earning power after that fight. they'll both want it as there last fight imo.

Honestly, I couldn't care less what he does at this stage.
Let him retire with his treasured perfect record.
And that stupid countdown clock did nothing but p*ss me off - to give him his due, Floyd was right to ignore Arum and his silly little tactics.
We'll have this pointless fight between Pac and Margarito (I expect it to last 5/6 rounds), Floyd will then declare he's ready to fight agin and the circus will start up again.
Fed up with it to be honest.

Did you see the first Castillo fight?

Even if you thought he won (you'd be in a small minority there - I gave it to Castillo by 4 rounds) he was thoroughly dominated.

He definitely won the rematch, but it wasn't exactly convincing either and in a lot of people's eyes his performance v Oscar wasn't exactly setting the world alight, so much so that quite a lot of people thought De la Hoya won.

I agree, he hasn't always won convincingly, the majority of his fights have been convincing but I think (and after watching the fight again a few months ago) that at the very least Castillo deserved a draw, and to be honest he would've got the decision if had've boxe anyone else that night...

Apart from De La Hoya he also had trouble with Judah too,..Now I know that's only 3 out of his whole career but it's still a fact he hasn't always had it his own way..!!

Someone at 154 I reckon. Perhaps Sergio Martinez. However knowing Floyd he'l either retire or fight an overhyped and finished Miguel Cotto

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 534 ✭✭✭Benny Lava

    Berto.

He's undefeated, American and a world champion. That makes it marketable to the American public. Sergio Martinez only fits into one of those categories and is even less well known than Berto so I don't see that fight happening.

    i can see him retiring

Apparently he will be announcing his next fight soon. Not sure who he has in mind...

Williams: Not a hope Mayweather will fight a 6"2 fighter with a monster reach who throws 100 punches a round, especially when he's not at all a big draw.

Martinez: Also not a big draw.

Cotto: In good condition for Mayweather to handle him (already ruined by Plasterhands and Pacquiao), a current world champion and a big draw. Mayweather's recent visit to Puerto Rico fuelled rumours but Cotto is supposed to be fighting Chavez Jr. in December. It might be three years after it should have happened but Cotto/Mayweather is still a viable fight financially.

Berto: Not a massive draw but being undefeated, current WBC champion and American makes it a possibility.

Alexander/Bradley: supposed to be fighting each other in January.

Other than these there aren't really that many options. Either way whoever he fights will pose a much smaller threat than Pacquiao would and will bring in decent PPV figures.

I'm thinking Cotto. It's a bitch move fighting him NOW but hey, it's Floyd afterall.

if i had to guess i'd say cotto

Cotto/Chavez seems to be the plan unless Mayweather has secretly hijacked it.
