    Hey everyone,

A friend of a friend is sellling a cannondale r500 road bike for €300 or so and as i have been recently looking for a starter bike he advised me to have a look at this- he said its good bike and i took it for a test ride today and liked it alot although i am clueless to bikes really. Its in good nick alright and is 3 years old.

Is this price reasonable do people think or should i do a bit of bargaining- all advise would be welcome.

    Regards

If it's this, then it's a decent enough spec, but "3 years old" is a bit of a stretch since it's listed under 2005.

It's a super frame (the previous incarnation CAAD4 was the one Super Mario won 4 stages in a row in the TDF 1999 on).
It's definitely more than 3 years old though as Cannondale are now on the CAAD 9.

It really depends on the condition of the frame and how many components need replaced (some will almost certainly need changed due to wear and tear).

That said 250-300 on the face of it sounds reasonable.

Thanks for feedback guys-just done bit of research there and id say its prob a 2001 model- seems like alot to pay for bike nearly 10 yrs old but really is in good nick and tyres look good! As said previously all i want is a starter bike so itprobs fits the bill-just wanna make sure i'm not paying too much. Its a Caad 3 cannondale r500 and they are lokoking for €300 for it-would offer €250.

I had a CAAD2 and a CAAD4 which I've long since sold on but both are still in use and the CAAD2 (a friend of a friend has it ) is still near perfect.
