    Hi folks
i got accepted for advanced entry into dt010 (im a qualified electrician) and was just curious if anyone can tell me if missing out on the first yr has any major disadvantage? also has anyone any idea what the pay rates are for this job when qualified?
    Any info would be appreciated.

From what I have seen almost everyone doing the course completes it in 2 years, so don't worry. Most DT010 students seem to stay on in college to complete the level 8 equivalent of this course (an extra year) as there are very few employment oppertunities after this course nowadays due to the collapse of the construction industry. Good luck!

    You're welcome.

Many electricians got great jobs straight from this course in the past. Unfortunately that is the exception rather than the rule now as employment from this depends heavily on the health of the construction industry. If electrical installation design is your thing you will enjoy it. The course focus is on lighting design, emergency lighting, cable selection and sizing, design of mains and sub mains systems and a bit about PF correction. It starts in year 2 right where electrical apprentiship left off. Maths, PLC and electronics are covered to a basic level.

    Good luck with it.

yeah the installation design is kind of what made me go for it i know theres not alot of jobs out there at the moment but id rather do something that i like and just hope that things will pick up in three yrs (im also planning on doing the extra year). sure ill just have to see how it goes.
    Thanks again for the info.
