Roadworks in Fermoy

Just following on from a discussion over and C&T about the N72 and N73, what exactly is going on in Fermoy roadworks-wise? They've been at it a long time at this point. What's the plan?

i beleive its flood relief work...they are basically building a long covered culvert to take excess water...looks horrendous

Rather bulky and ugly alright - though I'd imagine it will be very heavily planted in due course.
