1999 VW GOLF GT TDI ABS Problem

When under braking the brakes work perfect from 60mph right down to 15mph then the ABS kicks in until 5mph and the the brakes work prefect again.

Its only when the speed goes above 15mph and you brake that the problem occurs. When starting off and staying under 15mph there is no problem.

Has anyone else encountered this problem before?
    Any ideas appreciated.
    Cheers

Im quite sure there was an ABS recall on the Mark 4's.
It depended on the combo of safety stuff you have on the car, but I dont know the combo Im afriad.

If it is indeed something to do with a recall you are in luck. :)

I'll have to phone the tax office on Monday morning and tell them to change the model on the tax book.

    Cheers

You should and get them to change it to "HIGHLINE" as that's all it is

But sure then I'd be telling lies.
I might just keep it as it is.

Any ideas on the ABS problem or did you just reply to enlighten us with you lack of Golf specification knowledge?

    Ha, nah no ideas.
You should look up the whole gttdi thing though.. Think you'll be enlightened yourself.. It was nothing more than a marketing trick by dealers.. And it worked a treat.
