At the moment they only have micro sims for NEW numbers. THey are waiting on micro sims for people who want to port over or current meteor customers who want a micro sim.

Meteor forum says Mid August will be the time when they arrive. WHich will just be in line for when the first batch of sim free iphone 4 are despatched from apple.

Bill pay lite with Meteor is a rolling contract. You pay monthly and can cancel the contract every month if you wish.

Sounds great now to get a phone

If you want no contract commitments, buy it sim free from Apple.ie. You will have to wait until the 20th of August for Delivery. It will cost a bit more, but you would be paying more through a 18 month contract anyway?

True but with an 18 month contract you also get free minutes. So that negates the value of a sim free mobile

    How is that

So if you get a sim free iphone 4 32gb its 699, add lets say the meteor smart lite 30 deal (200mins, 200 texts, 1gb of data and free meteor calls and texts) @ €30pm x 18months is €540

So iphone sim free and 18months of meteor smart lite 30 is €1240

With 3 you get the iphone 4 32gb for €309 with Classic Flex Max @ €40pm and you get 350 flexi units (and the free option, check the website for an explanation) 18 months at 40pm is €720, add the cost of the phone €1029

So getting an 18 month contract with 3 is cheaper than getting the phone sim free and going on a rolling plan. Much cheaper.

But there are advantages to the sim free route.
    1. not being tied to a contract for 18 months.
    2. Factory Unlocked Sim free Iphones are worth more second hand
    3. Not having to be tied to a contract... It really is a bitch

its true saying that a contract costs more but the only way it costs more is if you dont actually use your iphone as a phone. You really do need a data plan with any smart phone. Otherwise your going to be paying a fortune for internet and if you dont want to use internet then you may aswell just use a Nokia 3210

I will use it more on my home network on occasions i will go on the net

I really dont understand people who pay so much for a phone and dont make the most out of it. For an extra 300 and something Euro with 3 you could have a year and a half worth of telephone use and internet.
You'll probably spend that on credit anyway. For the sake of an extra 300 Euro id really recommend you go make the most out of your phone.

Whatever way you want to spin out of this buying an iPhone 4 is no way of saving money

I'm on meteor billpay 10 with 10GB data

    50 texts
    50 mins
    free meteor to meteor texts
300 webtexts (free because of the data can be sent from iphone using eirtext i believe)
    10GB of data (14.99)

Is €25 per month which suits me fine because most of my contacts are meteor and I make very few calls, the data is what I want.

Like the above posts why are you buying an iphone and trying to save money. Why dont you just buy an ipod touch and a regular phone?

Would you not go for a HTC desire from Meteor. For the same price as an iphone 4 sim free (16gb) you would have the a htc desire and 12months of the smart 30 contract paid off.
In fact the desire would work out €10 cheaper than the iphone

    Iphone is 600
    Desire+Contract is 590 (Total over 12 months)

At least that way you have data and a sh1t load of free calls and texts

OP don't listen to them. You want an iP4 you get an iP4. Don't go for the Desire or any other phone if you have your heart set on an iP4.

You will only regret it in the end when you come to realise you wished you got the iP4.

If you are a Fanboy yeah go for the iphone for but if you want to maximise the value of your hard earned dosh dont bother...

IMO no smartphone is worth the money if you dont have a data plan.

IMO no smartphone is worth the money if you dont have a data plan.

It has nothing to do with being a fanboy (such a retarded comment if you ask me:rolleyes:).

And everything to do with a person wanting to buy a specific product that meets their needs and knowing that settling for second best will not do.

And it is your opinion just as it is mine.

I don't have a data plan (well I'm on the Vodafone 360 but it isn't really a data plan) and get loads of use from my iP4.

Just go onto ebay and get yourself one of these. Far more robust and superior to any phone on todays market.
